Secret Notes

Do you take notes on a regular basis? Do you want to make sure that your notes are protected against unauthorized access? If you answered “yes” to both these questions, then you need to take a look at Secret Notes, a Windows utility offered by Softorino for the great price of free. You see, access to Secret Notes is password protected. No one but yourself can unlock the application and no one but yourself can access the notes stored within the application.

A very simple setup wizard will help you install Secret Notes on your Windows PC. This setup wizard, as you can see in the Quick Look video that accompanies this article, lets you opt into installing WALTR and lets you customize the installation. When you’re done with the installation and you launch Secret Notes for the first time, you’ll be asked to pick a password. A word of caution: don’t pick something that’s easily guessable.

Secret Notes’ interface has a denim-like background. In the upper left hand corner there’s a New Note button that you can use to create notes. All the notes you create are nicely listed on the application’s interface. Whenever you create a note, a prompt shows up to congratulate you and to get you to share your success on Twitter.

Here are the options you can play with when creating a note: pick a custom font color, type or paste any text you want, set text as bold, set text as italic, underline text, use the undo and redo arrows, save your note or cancel the whole thing.

The notes are displayed in the order you created them. You can’t rearrange them. All the notes are yellow. You can pick a custom color for the note’s text, but you can’t pick a custom color for the note itself. Click the Lock Notes button from the lower right hand corner to lock the Secret Notes application. It would be nice if you could do that with a hotkey.
